Escuchado hoy

Esta mañana, de vuelta de la academia venía escuchando Teknopolis. Tenía en el Ipod, por casualidad, una edición antigua del programa, y sonaba el tema de Make the Girl Dance - Baby, Baby, Baby., cuyo video no deja indiferente. Me veo obligada a compartirlo (por si acaso no lo habías visto todavía).

Shakira Did it Again

Shakira lo hizo de nuevo, vuelve pegando fuerte presentándonos su último single del disco She Wolf (o Loba para los castellanoparlantes). El tema es Did it Again, cuyo título nos recordará a aquel de Oops de Britney, pero para nada tienen relación. El de la colombiana es increíble, desde que escuché el disco me encantó este corte, y ahora que he podido acceder al Benni Benassi Remix ft. Kid Cudi.... estoy extasiada! >_<

Y a continuación, como no podía ser menos os dejo la letra del tema original, en inglés, como corresponde al remix. No sé si aparecerá el mismo en español, pero si lo editan es para quitarse el sombrero. Un 10, Shakira.

Retrospecter Vol. II

Una canción que me ha marcado como pocas es The Time is Now de Moloko. Y la coloco en esta sección de Retrospecter porque me apetece.... y porque este tema fue el primer single de su tercer álbum, Things to Make and Do, publicado allá por el año 2000 (¡10 años pasan ya!).

Si la semana pasada hablaba bien de Becky Jean Williams (Late Night Alumni), hoy no puedo dejar de lado a Róisín Murphy. Me apasiona la voz de esta irlandesa. Si bien es cierto que alcanzó sus mayores éxitos con Moloko, hoy en día, en solitario, sigue manteniendo el listón bien alto. No me mireis así! seguro que muchos coincidis conmigo en que le quedaban mejor aquellos ritmos suaves y comerciales. Recordemos sino el famoso Sing it Back... ahora comparémoslo con Overpowered. No hay color, verdad?

Increíble Roísín Murphy

Por qué me marcó tanto The Time is Now? Porque además de tener un ritmo fresco, un sonido excelente, una guitarra española!... además de todo eso habla del tiempo, de las oportunidades, del amor. Llamadme cursi, pero me encantan estas letras.

Late Night Alumni publica nuevo álbum

Late Night Alumni

Late Night Alumni es el grupo estadounidense formado por Becky Jean Williams, Finn Bjarnson, John Hancock y Ryan Raddon. En Septiembre de 2005 sacaron a la luz el álbum Empty Streets. En mi opinión es un disco redondo, muy bien elaborado.

Cuenta con melodías delicadas, suaves, con la voz de Becky J.W. como elemento imprescindible. Todo ello combina en un estilo que algunos coinciden en llamar Soft Trance. Sin embargo, yo creo que se trata de un género incluso más profundo que no se aleja del Trance y que me recuerda inevitablemente a piezas de Paul Van Dyk. Para ser más concretos, me hace pensar en muchas de las que aparecieron en su álbum Reflections: Homage, Spellbound, Like a Friend... vale, me enamoré de aquel disco, y aún sigo estándolo...

Bueno, que me alargo mucho, ya hablaré de PVD en otro post y del himno oficial que ha creado junto a Johnny McDaid para la conmemoración del 20º Aniversario de la Caída del Muro de Berlín (que casualmente... es hoy!).


Siguiendo con Late Night Alumni... Desde aquel lejano 2005 han realizado remixes para temas producidos por uno de los componentes, Ryan Raddon (aka. Kaskade) como Steppin' Out y Sometimes, en enero de 2006 publicaron el sencillo I Knew You When, y recientemente han editado dos bonus tracks: Hope y One More Chance (100% recomendando!!!), siendo ésta última una excelente versión del tema original Another Chance de Roger Sánchez, publicado allá por 2001.

Éstos temas complementarios surgieron, parece ser, como antesala a la llegada de su nuevo álbum: Of Birds, Bees, Butterflies, etc. que desde el 3 de noviembre está disponible para su descarga en internet. Pero es exactamente mañana, 10 de noviembre, cuando saldrá a la venta (física) a nivel internacional.

Como single de este nuevo disco, You Can Be the One fue presentada el 1 de septiembre y puesta a disposición de los internautas por un módico precio. Lo que más me ha llamado la atención del tema son los violines que incluye y que desde el primer acorde crean una melodía inquieta (pero no menos deliciosa que a las que estabamos acostumbrados).

De forma paralela a todas estas fechas, el grupo ha ido publicando en su canal de Youtube los primeros videos oficiales, versiones acústicas, directos de estudio e incluso el audio, sin más, de algunos temas nuevos.

Dos curiosidades: quizás recordeis que el tema de Empty Streets fue utilizado para el anuncio del Toyota IQ. Aún más curioso es que, desde hace algún tiempo, los temas de aquel disco también están siendo utilizados en los ya famosos tutoriales de maquillaje de Michelle Phan, a los que también estoy enganchada, he de decir :_D


Sin más, os dejo con el tema que más me ha gustado (de momento), What's In A Name. Abre el disco y presiento que va a pegar fuerte este invierno. No sé si al nivel de Empty Streets, pero bueno... ¡ya lo decidiré cuando escuche el disco mañana!
